The main aim of this course is to produce competent and ethical supervisors with the ability to empower their supervisees to be competent and ethical counsellors. At it’s heart is the ability to work together, which is an essential skill for supervision.
Now in it’s twelfth year this course has produced many outstanding supervisors. Last year I revised it to have more flexibility with the peer supervision by having it take place outside the course meetings. This gave students more freedom to work it into their busy lives and also helped to keep the cost down.
The course comprises of twelve three hour sessions of theory and twelve one hour sessions of practice. In addition you will be required to have twelve one hour peer supervision with the others on the course. There will be an additional four hour session for final assessment.
Assessment is by portfolio and is three way. Self, peer and tutor and we all have to agree. If for any reason you are not successful at that point, we will discuss the extra work that needs to be done and we agree on a time for re-assessment. I will charge extra for that.
You will be required to do twenty hours of supervised supervision at a ratio of 1:5. Your supervisor must have a diploma in supervision. I can recommend a number of supervisors if your current supervisor doesn’t have a diploma.
It is essential that you attend all of the sessions,so on the first meeting we as a group decide when the next sessions will be.
I have created the course from a number of sources. mostly from the best bits of supervision trainings I have delivered in the past, and from my own supervision training. Essentially, the course is what we make it.
The cost is £800 and you will be required to pay a £200 deposit to book your place.
